State Museum

In lucknow is situated the State Museum which is a place to be necessarily visited by the tourists and all others who come to Uttar Pradesh. The museum of lucknow is a three storied modernized building in the area of Baranasi Bagh in the city of Lucknow. In fact, this building is a museum as well as an archive, both rolled into one building. There are plenty of galleries in this museum with different ones dedicated to the bronzes, sculptures, natural history, paintings, coins, anthropological specimens, decorative arts and textiles.

There are many sculptures belonging to ancient era such as that of Balarama and also there is one lingam belonging to Panch Mukhi Shiv. Plenty of coins belonging to the era of Indus valley civilization are found in the museum in a beautiful collection which are made of terracotta, where coins from the present day are also present. Apart from these, there is also a mummy of the Egyptian days and the pistol which was used by the Chandrasekhar Azad, who was a great freedom fighter as well as there are many other art works and many other things of historical importance.
